Antique Outdoor Lights
Some of the retro copies of antique outdoor lights bring back wonderful styles of the beautiful old-fashioned lights, such as Hardware House Antiques' silver outdoor lighting fixture and the trans-globe lighting outdoor antique rust fixture.
Amazingly, a nineteenth- century historic black post fitter gas light design is actually a GS-94F LED Solar Lamp by Gamosonic. It looks like the real thing and being able to fit it on a post is just a fabulous feature. The ideal spot would be away from wandering hands, but in an area where you and others can enjoy seeing the beauty and creativity of old and new.
It is easy to see and appreciate real antiques and you will find many outdoor lights restored and updated to code so they shine again. The hard part is deciding which one you want to feature at your home or make someone special feel cherished by giving one of these special gifts.
One of the special custom lanterns with brackets is much like a carriage lantern. The beauty is incredible. It fits on the corner of a building or you can get one that fits flush on the outside wall.
What makes the lamps special is the quality of workmanship from a time when things were keepers, not throwaways. Frosted glass, a right or left drop hinge opening and stainless steel construction are convenient. The bracket, handcrafted iron, has iron rivets rather than welds.
The Gothic Antique outdoor light, circa 1910, juts outward from the wall mount and has opal glass. When it was upgraded to today's qualifications, the bulb size changed to an economical 60-watt.
Yet another lamp restored from another era is the cheerful cottage porch lamp with soft amber glass and lovely designs to cast a warm glow on those who visit in the evening.
